OK, so my music system is now back to a pair of M40s, an H/K stereo receiver, and a turntable. Antenna isn't great and I haven't hauled all the vinyl up from the basement so basically one radio station (CBC-FM) and that's it for now.

Contrary to what you might expect, this change was neither driven by a desire for simplicity nor a sudden thought that "the old ways were really the best". No siree.

I was moving the system down from the loft to a now-empty spot along the wall in the dining room area. The CD changer has the usual big sticker saying "do not move or carry when loaded with CDs" but I have moved it before (carefully) and nothing seemed to go wrong, and I'm trying to stop bringing my "work habits" home with me, so what the heck, one more time won't hurt right ?

On previous moves I must have kept the player flat while carrying it, but this time I picked the player up under one arm... and immediately heard dozens of CDs falling out of their grooves and rattling around the back of the player housing. Oopsie...

One day I guess I'll have to take the CD changer apart and try to get my CDs back, but until then I'm back to basics... and loving it.
