Walter Murch directed this movie, and if you're not familiar with him, he's far better known as film editor and sound designer. He basically invented surround sound when he did the sound design on Apocalypse Now, so it's no surprise a movie he made would contain a wide ranging soundtrack.

If you are familiar with him, then everything I said above is redundant. smile
