I recently really enjoyed a Speilberg movie, Tin Tin. I did not enjoy this one. It misfired over and over again. I got bored even though the movie tried and tried and tried.

It is a good looking movie with a lot of detail in the props and scenery, the acting is fine and the soundtrack is fine. But none of it is great. There are few scenes that are going to shake peoples houses pretty good. A cavalry unit does a practice charge across a filed, a would really like to go to a home with a proper home theater setup and listen to that one.

I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone. I will say that the movie reminded me a little bit of The Thin Red Line. The story follows the horse. Characters come and then go.

This movie is certainly watchable but will fade away. There is noting classic about this movie. If you want a movie about quiet village life, watch The Quiet Man, a good war movie for battle scenes, take your pick, The Pacific series had some good ones. A movie about a horse... there are so many classics.

Sorry Spielberg. I think I am going to have to watch Schindler's List again to remind me of how great he can be.
