It's one of the most versatile tools in my collection.
I like my Sawzall more than my chainsaw... Probably because i get to use it quite a bit more, and don't have to be as careful with it...

when you said Metal, and said it joined to a Iron pipe i though you were staying with Iron. If you have a vice, put the pipe in the vice when you use the hack saw, this will allow you to get the best possible cut given the tools at hand. Also, if you use the vice method, cut as close to the end of the vice as possible. This will allow you to use the end of the vice as a guide.
