I would not think of putting upward reflective sound as an option. On the Anthem unit, you can define the Atmos speakers as being in ceiling, height or dolby. if putting speakers into the ceiling is not going to work, then I would look to the second option and install height speakers.

This is the option that I am going to be using. (once I get my equipment cabinet made).

Anthem: AVM60, Fosi DAC-Q5
Axiom: ADA1500, LFR1100 Actiive, QS8, EP500, M3, M3comp, M5
