Thanks for the reply, Eric. I definitely agree that a "soft shutdown" is necessary. I'm pretty sure that the unit shuts down and turns on the the PC properly, so it should do the same if it's possible to mod it and use it like I stated. The Zwave on/off receptacle would act just like the button on the remote.
