The difference between the in-wall and the on-wall would be negligible. The key is that the drivers are in front of the wall plane. Since our in-walls have the drivers slightly proud of the wall plane they work like on-walls. Having the drivers even slightly behind the wall plane is a big problem. We blind tested this during the design phase of our in-walls.
