Just wanted to get some opinions here.. now, i know that the THX is more of a "bells & whistles" type option for receivers, and has no true decoding capabilities like DTS, DD, pro logic, etc.. but, it is considered a valuble listening mode for those movies that are THX certified.

i have had a chance to watch 3 THX certified movies, and while watching, i went back and forth between the THX setting and the DTS or DD(which ever applied). the movies were 'pirates of the caribbean', 'finding nemo', and the restored limited edition of 'close encounters of the 3rd kind'..

here is my dilemma.. althought the THX setting was good for certain scenes, overall, i much more preffered the sound in DTS or DD over the THX. it seemed a more fuller sound, and the acoustics just worked better, at least to my ear. maybe its the room, maybe its speaker placement, i dont know.. but i just didnt like the THX signal as much as the others. i am in no way saying it was bad, it just wasnt as good.

i was curious as to other opinions in this matter. for those with THX certified receivers, to you use the THX setting very often?? my recent experience has really made me believe that the THX is not all it is advertised to be. i guess it all comes down to what type of sound the watcher prefers.. it is apparent to me, that i dont prefer the THX mix.

let me know your opinions.
