My Christmas present was going to be a Hsu STF-2. This new SVS may change that. One question I have though concerns the relative merits of a down-firing sub (Hsu) compared to a front-firing sub (SVS). I realize that at low frequencies, the sound source should not be apparent. But in my room, the "front" of the sub will probably be facing an opening to another room in the opposite wall. It just seems that the SVS would be losing energy in that direction, as opposed to a more omnidirectional, in-room dispersion with the Hsu. What are opinions on this? Should the front-firng SVS be more "directional" than a bottom-firing sub?
