I'm trying to go through and better spec out my room for speaker placement, and I was curious what was considered an appropriate distance from the listening position for surrounds. I think I've read in the past, that for rear surrounds, they shouldn't be a greater distance than the fronts are to the listening position.
In my situation, my room is 11x22. The TV and fronts are in the middle of a 22' wall. The fronts are about 7.5 feet from the listening position. My concern is that the side walls are 11 feet from the listening position.
If this would be OK, I have another concern. I originally intended to go with QS8's. One of the 11' ends of the room opens to the kitchen. I originally thought the wall extension from the ceeling was between 12-15 inches. When I measured them, they're 11". This means that there'd only be 2.5" of head room for the QS8's. Going with the QS4's would give me 2" more headroom, but I don't know if they'd be enough at that distance.
Any advice?
