Believe me, I've had this argument a million times with the Khristmas Kamcorder Kiddies.

"DV is broadcast legal, man.. play my skate video!"
'Uh, DVs pedestal is 0 IRE and 4:1:1 colour space, it is not broadcast legal'
"Well, I seen DV stuff on TV"
'Yes, my brother shot a documentary in Brazil and Jamaica (and in fall will be going to Kenya) on DVCAM, and it was legalized in regards to video levels before broadcast... but out of necessity, they brought a Sony PD-150 prosumer camcorder because lugging a DXC-50 ENG-style camera may have gotten them shot or imprisoned! One of my shooters had to get footage of crews taking down the Golden Boy a gilt statue on top of our legislative building for restoration. The trapdoor up to where he is is the width of a thin man's shoulders, so they sent him with a Sony VX-1000... yes, the stuff hits air, but baby... it ain't broadcast'

And you don't want to know how DV does 16:9... anamorphic. *shudders*
