It sounds as if M80s are pretty hard to blow out with clean power, but I imagine you could fry up the tweeters pretty easily if you drove a smaller amp into clipping enough.

My dim understanding is that clipping gives you sharper corners on the output waveforms... sharper corners translate into HF content... which shifts more energy into the HF area than you get with normal music... which makes for crispy critter tweeters.
