I think you went back and edited something on your original post. When you post more than one pic, it adds that <IMG SRC=" stuff. If you go back to edit, for whatever reason, it screws things up. I speak from personal experience.

Now, to get back on topic: Jordan! Everything looks great! You have every reason to be proud. I particularly like the hookups in the second picture. Very clean. Are the surrounds working out OK on the back wall?

Finally, yes. The break was easily repaired by myself...I think the guys must have cut it when they were sanding the floor pre-stain.

So...happy...it...works...

QS8 = Happiness.

As for the tweeters, I had a pro calibrate the levels and positioning so it sounds kick ass

That looks great. Is that the same apartment you posted floorplans for a few months back ? It looks much bigger...

Same one!

I always find it amazing how an apartment looks BIGGER when there's actually furniture in it. It's also looking a little empty since I only have the one love seat and I have 2 massive leather couches on the way.

I'd like to thank Axiom. This journey began several years ago when my dad bought me a "Stereo" for my graduation and I hand picked all the components starting with the M22s and gradually purchasing the rest over time.

In the future I'd love to upgrade to M60s and maybe a more powerful subwoofer though in an apartment it may be overkill/not a good idea. I'd for sure go to a VP-150.

Hey Jordan, great looking system!!

Is that an apartment building? Do you think you can crank it up without neighbors complaining? I can't really do much on my apartment, I am holding off purchasing a sub just because of the complains that it may cause to the neighbors.

What works for me in my neighborhood where the Sub Wars truce is in effect and working, is to run a sub that gives good quality bass(-3db)down to the upper 30s.

It does an acceptable job in conveying the essence of what a sub is supposed to be, but dosen't send those wall piercing really low frequencies thru my walls and right into the neighbors houses.

A few of the exceptionally heavy effects do manage to sneak out(I've stood outside and listened)but they are random enough(if not a musical beat)that they aren't troublesome.

My understanding is that the majority of movie effects are in the mid 30s anyway, so being in the upper 30s isn't causing me to miss all that much, and it is keeping the truce!

If I’m not mistaken, your entire house/home/apartment building leans to the left. Unless you live in San Francisco, Istanbul, or the more mountainous regions of North Florida (i.e., on an overpass) where such things are normal, you may want make some modifications to you set up. First, you have the sub and the CD tower BOTH on the left. Obviously the structural makeup of your room cannot handle all that weight (even with the audio rack as counterbalance). I’d suggest investing in an ep500 and placing it on the other side. This should equalize your room nicely (in more ways than one).

A few other observations:

1) You have speaker wires on the ground, around power cords, and generally haphazardly thrown around. I believe that this will SERIOUSLY affect your soundstage, midrange clarity, male pattern balding, raise structure, and you’ll never get a soufflé to rise. I would suggest better wire management. You may want to consult a specialist…or my mom. She’s good about straightening up after me.

2) There seems to be a small star being born in just left center of your TV. The gravitational pull will really distort the sound. The upside is that your heating and lighting costs should decrease substantially though it may make this summer a BIT unbearable. If it collapses into a black hole it will give a whole new meaning to “blacker than black”.

3) The Maxell pic totally rocks, though it could be a TAD bigger.

And a question: You apparently have used the electrostatic method of speaker placement. I have been unsuccessful in this regard. No matter how much I rub those qs8’s on my head, they just won’t stick to the wall. Are you using special paint or something? I could really use your help with this.

LOL. You kill me. Excellent humour.

0. I do live on a hill, but the apartment is straight, its my camera work that needs help. Though I'd love a $1400 sub, it's either that or 2 months mortgage

1. I agree. I will be cleaning it all up eventually but the work was literally finished last night, and I wanted to clean the place up.

2. It's called a "Flash" and it's a new fangled way of taking photos when there's not enough light.

3. I'm using the standard QS-8 speaker mounts, drilled into the wall. The wires as mentioned are in-wall.

Stay funny

Love the set-up. Very clean and finished looking.

One comment: Is there any way to get some more slack to the M22s? I don't like the drooping wire thing. You could probably snake the wire through the stand base, right? That would really tidy up your spread. I also agree about moving the cd rack to the other side.

Otherwise - congrats on the near completion!

I’m not seeing your problem.
In reply to:

I tried this “flash” thing before when taking pictures of my family at the park. It didn’t help the light very much and apparently a few old ladies passed out, some children laughed, and a couple of nice men in blue let me stay in their 6 by 8 foot room with bars. Crappy acoustics and the mattress was lumpy. I’d try it again but apparently that would break some sort of roll or something so I think I better not.
In reply to:

If this is truly an apartment – wiring in-wall is gutsy. I’ve never lived in an apartment that would allow it. While you’re breakin’ the law you…law breaker you (can’t always be clever)…how ‘bout throwing some paint on the wall. You know, a nice chartreuse or lavender or …black.

Seriously though – room looks great – very professional, don’t change a thing.........Or do, I don’t care.

Well, I care, just not about your room.

Ok, Ok, you got me, I don’t really care about anything.

Except sub-20hz performance…..and ice cream….and beer…..and air conditioning..…and soufflés…and puppies…but not cats, ‘cause they suck. And I’m kinda apathetic towards sports in general but (so as to not get flogged) I can occasionally get into hockey (especially during the Olympics). And I’m finding myself strangely attached to that picture on your wall but I think that is just puppy love – we’ll see.

Looks great, good job.

I had the same problem when I redid mine. In your head, you figure, OK, i'll get all the cables clean and nice looking. Then you find out, crap, this cable is too short, this other one is too stiff to bend, etc. I ended up w/ a rat's nest anyways, even w/ cable bundling. Oh, it looks good from the front...
