Just finishing the drywall on our "playroom", which is 24x36 with 12 foot cathedral ceilings.
Currently have M60s, VP150, and QS8s, and a POS passive sub.
Thinking about a subwoofer purchase towards the end of the year.
An EP500 is about the same price as an SVS PB12-Plus/2, while an EP600 is much more.
Can anyone comment on which way I should go?
Thanks,
BarilkoBart

Both subs you mention are excellent and have comparable response curves ( PB12-Plus/2 vs. EP500). Because of your giant cave of a room, it may be possible that the extra driver and tuneability of the SVS would be of greater benefit than the active DSP technology of the Axiom. I would definitely give both companies a call to discuss your situation before coming to a final decision, though.
EDIT: Of course, if you can swing dual EP600s, that'd b e the best way to go.

If you are planning on the end of the year, before then we are going to have a pair of PB12-Ultras and and EP-600 in a pretty large room - 27x24 with 8 foot ceilings going to a 16 foot cathedral peak.
For output, a single PB12-Ultra will roughly match a single PB12-Plus/2 if you put the PB12-Plus/2 into its 20 Hz, dual ports open mode.

The EP500 will fill that room. EP600 would be even better.
And they would match!
I may yet upgrade to the EP600.

I have the EP600 and it is great with movies and music. I considered the SVS Ultra as well, but Axiom came to the table with a "5" year warranty matching the rest of the Axiom line. I believe SVS or HSU are only 2 years maybe 3 years warranty.
