While we are talking about speakers, I looked in my Kenwood manual to see what it said about the "small" and "large" settings.

Here is what Kenwood says:

Small: Select when using a relatively small front speaker.

Large: Select when using a relatively large front speaker.

Geeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

That really gives me a lot of information.

Go Figure.

I believe their manual writers use the "don't overburden the witless consumer with details" method of manual writing.

The VP150 sound great x-over'd at 80Hz. I must say that I have been impressed many time when using NAD surround EARS, how the center works it magic.

I use the Outlaw ICBM x-over at 100Hz. That is what Outlaw recomend,10Hz above the +/- 3dB freq. rolloff, in the VP150 is 85Hz + 10 = 95Hz... so I use it at 100hZ.

I also tried at 80Hz. and I like it more at 80Hz in the VP150 most of the times, but sometimes, when I play EARS NAD surround, the center tend to reproduce a lot of bass depending of the recording, so I use the x-over at 100Hz with the ICBM. Overall, along with the rest of the speakers and my room, that gave the best balance in my room.
