I need/want/crave an additional stereo Amp for the M80's. Currently, I am using a used Sunfire borrowed from a friendly dealer. The Amp is a 1995 Sunfire with 300x2 channels.

It sounds very nice, but I have concerns about the reliability of a 10 years old amp. The Amp does not have an off switch and is apparently designed to be ON all the time.

The other option would be to return the Sunfire and go for a C272. Unfortunately, I cannot demo the C272.

I am seeking advice on which one to go for, the 10 years old Sunfire or a brand new C272. Cost will be roughly the same.

What happened in the last 10 years in the Amp world, any improvements at all ?

I have a NAD 352 integrated amp powering my M60's for two channel stereo only. I very rarely have to turn it past 11:00 to blow my ears away. I sit about 13-15 feet away. Depending on the size of your room, I'm sure the 272 will do you just fine. As for changes in amps, you will have to ask someone smarter than me......

You might ask the Sunfire was traded in for?

You might be surprised how long that Sunfire will last. Carver/sunfire are very reliable amps and I'd take them over any denon/yammie/pioneer etc.

This was an ex-demo unit.

I would have to agree that Sunfire has a great rep. If you're not have any difficulties, you might have a fine buy.
