Yup, it's me again. The guy with no money but wanting Axiom's.
I found these on eBay but can't find any info on them, and I'd like to know if they're any good or not?

3) Merak MC634 center

4) Axiom CTC-20 center

Any opinions on the above?
I'd like to some day end up with:
M60ti or M22ti (fronts)
VP150 (center)
QS8 or QS4 (surrounds)
HSU VTF-2 (sub)

They're from Axiom's previous line. Merak is a brand of speakers that are made OEM by Axiom, and sold at Radio Shack (or were sold at Radio Shack).
Why not save yourself the cash of buying the older speakers, and just build your system piece-by-piece?

Hi fhw,
I'll definitely be building my system unit by unit due to $ issues.
But a couple of these speakers are going dirt-cheap and if they're any good they might work 'for now' till I can afford to replace them with the Axiom's I want.
I've got a brand new receiver (JVC 8020) with a pair of 25yr-old Optimus 5B speakers for my mains, and computer speakers for my surrounds (Logitech Z-560's), done laughing yet? Wipe the tears from your eyes and I'll continue...
What I was thinking(?) of doing, was to get a cheap center for now ($50 as opposed to the $540 for the VP150 that I want), then start replacing all the speakers bit by bit till I get what I am dreaming of (M60's or M22's, VP150, QS8 or QS4, HSU VTF-2).
But I don't want to spend even the $50 on eBay if they're just pieces of crap!
I've got $200-$300(Cdn) left to spend and it's driving me nuts as to what to do. Should I try one of these? Which one? Or should I continue saving-up for another 2-3 months and buy new?
HELP!

Wait on the speakers you're looking to get. All of us at some point make due with crappy gear...it makes the upgrade all the more satisfying.
However, FYI Audioshop is clearing away their Axiom stock...why not drop them a line and see what you can score?
