I've been reading a lot lately in here and I noticed something this week. I've never seen any comments concerning the M50's. I was thinking that they would be a good alternative to doing M22's with stands. Are the M50's not as clear and accurate as the M22's? These are just a few questions that i came up with. Thanks for any comments in advance.

Unless I'm mistaken, the M50's are a fairly new model, which probably explains the lack of discussion on them (not a lot of owners yet).

Jason, do a "M50" search and you'll find a fair number of posts. The M50 uses the 6 1/2" rather than the 5 1/4" midwoofer and the general opinion(see especially Alan on 3/16)appears to be that the midrange isn't quite as clear.

Hi Jason (Spock...),
Yes, JohnK is correct. The M50 is a rather pleasant compromise between the clarity and detail of the M60's and M22ti's tonal balance and the "laid-back" mids and softer sound of the M40 and M3ti.

Alan,
Just curious as to what your favorite axiom speaker is? Is it the M22? I know that Ian has said the M80 is the best speaker axiom has ever made.

If I'm reading this right, the m50ti's are preferable to the m40's and m3ti. May I assume that these three are comparable to Paradigm's monitor line sonically, whereas the m22ti's, m60s, and the m80s are comparable to Paradigm's studio line? I have heard the Paradigm monitor 7,9 and 11. I found the 7 to be the best of the three, though unremarkable. Would I also find the m50's to be unremarkable? Does the "laid back" midrange of the m50 mean nonexistent? I find myself wondering if the m50 vs m60 debate is much ado about a little. I once asked a salesman about the sound difference between the two and he told me he can't hear any difference at all. Debate on! I have many questions, but few answers.

I bought a pair of M50's almost 2 months back.
I enjoy them very much.
However I cannot compare them with anything.
I am still astounded by their clarity. Of course when I have more money, I will move up to the m60's or m80's... but thats in the distant future.
I think you will be pleasantly suprised at how well these speakers actually sound.

i'm curious, have you heard the paradigms? I too have been comparing them to the axioms but i assumed a different comparison. to me, the paradigm studios sounded smoother than the monitors so with only having been able to audition the axiom 50s, i'm just guessing that the 60s would sound more like the monitors (both being brighter/crisper) and the 50s would sound more like the studios (both more laid back/forgiving). i'm very interested in learning more of how you reached your conclusions. you've probably had more experience...

I have heard the paradigms. I found the monitor line to be less precise than the studios. The monitors, I found to be a boomy midbass heavy speaker compared to the incredible highs of the studios. Of course I have only heard the studio 20s compared to the mini monitors, monitor 7 and 11. I was initially somewhat impressed with the midbass of the mini monitors, but each time I returned to the same B&M to listen to them they started to sound drab to me. I now own Axiom m22ti's, which I consider a superior speaker to any of the paradigm's I have listened to.
