I'm close to pulling the trigger on a a SVS 25-31 pi. Do I need this to replace a noisy JBL PB12 or are there other products I should be looking at?

I use two Hsu VTF-3 MKII subs that nearly bring the house down and my theaters is in the basement (carpet over poured concrete). A single VTF-3 is 350w, 18Hz and can hit 16Hz. A single VTF3 pressurizes my 13x24 room really nice. I won't even say what happens when both are going. There really should be a law against running two of these in a room the size of mine.

What size is your room and what SPL do you intend to listen at? Also what kind of extension do you need?

My room is 12x20 with 8 ft ceilings. It will be used mainly for HT backing up a pair of m22s.

Actually, Legairre, there ARE laws; But they aren't written in legalese.

They're written in medical texts

And the laws get even more severe when you toss in your surround subs

But,........ain't it fun

I would think the Hsu Vtf 3mk2 would certainly outperform the Svs pci 25 31.It is also a bit more $$$$ than the Svs too.I would expect the Hsu Vtf 2mk2 to be at the same performance level of that particular Svs sub.The Vtf Mk 2 is bit cheaper too.

HSU STF-3. It's upgradeable once the turbocharger comes out, too.

Forgive me if I'm skeptical, but a turbocharged amplified speaker sounds just a tad gimmicky.

It's not a real turbo or anything that adds any kind of forced induction into the sub. It's just a pair of "U" shaped tubes that extend the port area allowing for lower extension of the sub. Hsu uses the term turbo becuase it increases performance.

Snce you've already looked at the SVS 25-31pci I'm assuming your looking to spend around $500-$600? If you don't mind a box sub there's alaso the SVS PB12-ISD(22Hz anechoic extension with 18hz in-room frequency response) for $599.

What is your price range?
