$500-$550 is the limit of my budget for a sub. The reason I was thinking about the SVS is because it's a tube style and wouldn't take up much room. I was also thinking of the Infinity csw10, which is marked down to $599. It has a 650 watt amp. I don't know if it's any good, but that's alot of amp. I think any sub would be ok for me. I actually like my JBL, but it appears it's days are numbered. I've only had 2 subs, a really rotten KLH and the JBL. Maybe another JBL would suffice.

The turbocharger is all but a gimmick.

What it does is plug into the ports, then comes back around in a U shape and go on top of the sub.

This increases available port space and lowers tuning frequency without lowering output. They claim a 12 hz bottom limit for their latest VTF-3 HO sub they are working on with the turbocharger.. which is pretty damned impressive. Search around about it on HSU's site.

I can't believe it. It's the 1980s again. Next decade it will be the 60s again. Last decade it was the 70s. We're stuck. Someone stop the nostalgia! Please!

Seriously. Turbo?

Turbo cars are very much alive today just not in the 80's. Some of the fastest cars in the world are turbo powered.

I'm not talking about real turbochargers. I've got one, love it, thanks. Although many of the top performing ones these days are going naturally aspirated.

What I'm talking about is the reemerging use of the word "turbo" to designate a high performance item. My vacuum cleaner has a "turbo" attachment. Which might actually loosely fit the description. However, a 12" section of single curved tube does not.

Your welcome. I knew you didn't mean a real turbo. All Hsu is trying to do by using the word turbo is imply an increase in performance. Even razor companies do it "mach 3 turbo". I guess I should discuss this in a seperate thread though because I'm high jacking the original poster's question.

I had two JBL subs(PSWD112) that were the predecessor to the PB12. While JBL makes good subs the SVS 25-31(since you want a tube) will blow it away.

I've had the Hsu VTF-3 MK II for a week and am thrilled with it. In a fairly difficult room (25x12x9) opening into 2 other rooms it sounds absolutely great. Music in stereo mode is awesome and the movies blow us away. I'm in St. Paul - if you ever get down this way and want an audition PM me and I'd be happy to help you out.

I think another reason why Dr. Hsu nicknamed the accessory "turbo" is because he likes cars.

And the laws get even more severe when you toss in your surround subs

Ahhh, but when it comes to audio you just have to break the law every now and then
