So I just got my first real HT system yesterday~! Onkyo602, Onkyo DV502, with the epic midi 175 system. Coming from one of those $99 HTIB systems, this new setup is awesome. Thanks to SNIPPY for opening his home for me to do a home audition. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and has a well defined ear. All my ears could hear at his place was WOW, so the only input I can provide is that Axiom’s are way better than any of those HTIB systems. Your probably thinking, 'yeah, no kidding. duh'.
My question is this, on the dvd player with multi-channel out. If I use digital coax or optical, do I still have to use the multi-channel outs to get the 5.1 audio from DVD-A?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, multichannel audio (DVD-A and SACD) is analog only. You need both connections.
Enjoy and make sure Snippy gets his referral bonus...

Thanks guys. I did tell the sales person about snippy when I ordered. He should be getting whatever it is he's supposed to get.
