Ok, I have had my EP175 for 2 weeks now, and was always planning on getting two. The question is, do I get the second 175 or do I return the existing 175 and go with one EP500. The cost is almost the same. The room size is 17' by 30' with a 7' ceiling.
I know the EP500 has the DSP chip and gets below 20 hertz to shake my neighbourhood, but 2 EP 175's would give me some great flexibility.
Your thoughts please.

EP500. Hands down. Not that I've ever heard the 175.

I've been pondering the same question with my 350. When I bought my setup, they didn't have the 500 or 600 out yet. I'd like to know if I should get a second 350, or a 500 to go with my 350. My guess is that it has been to long to upgrade my 350 to a 500 or 600....

HEY! You can't vote twice. And he didn't say anything about the EP600 in the title of this thread. What? Are you an EP600 fanboy now? Are we now gonna have to put up with you hawking the 600 in EVERY subwoofer thread? When the thread is about the 600, THEN you can mention it, but when it isn't, quit being a fanboy, fanboy, fanboy!!!!!!!!!!
DISCLAIMER AND EXPLANATION
First, and foremost, for the uninitiated, Craig is my treasured friend and, hopefully, he knows that diatribe was in jest. Now YOU know as well.
Second, I frequent the AVS forum, and am so tired of those who bust into a thread which is asking advice about Speaker A and Speaker B, with "I just got speaker C, and it's the best I've ever heard, and I'm SOOOO happy, and you really oughta get this speaker, cuz it rocks, and will smoke those other speakers." There are, at the moment, two in particular who are conspicuously guilty of this sin, an Ascend fanboy (no one who posts here) and a Swan fanboy, and they're really DRIVING ME NUTS!
There can be several good reasons to bring up a product not mentioned in the subject of the thread. Unfortunately these two don't need a good reason. They are just pitchmen for the brand they own, justifying their own purchase.
OK! I've vented. Apologies to the original poster for the hijack, but do you remember Paul Vitti (Robert Di Nero), who, after shooting a pillow full of holes, is asked by Dr. Sobol (Billy Crystal), "feel Better" replies "yeah, I do"? Well, I feel better, too

I have a brief thought, Jack. Perhaps you should stop reading AVS?
Oh, and EP600.

One awesome sub (the EP500) is better than two smaller subs. It will go deeper flatter than the two smaller ones and still give you plenty of SPLs.
I'm guessing the only advantage to the two smaller subs would be the ability to place them in two different spots in the room and achieve more uniform coverage, but setting them up would be a pain in the ass.
Two EP350s would be interesting, but would only be necessary if one couldn't do the job, right?
