I have M22s with an SVS PB12-ISD subwoofer in a room exactly the same size and I love that combination. I also have a VP100 and some non-Axiom surround speakers.
I have also heard M50s in a similarly sized room and they sounded great, too. In fact, I have compared my M22s to those M50s directly. Read all about it in this thread.

I've had both. I wouldn't characterize the 22s as having a big sound. More like crisp and clear. Do you want a relaxed(m50)sound or a detailed(m22)sound. The m22s need a sub, the 50s don't.
Peter, you have a SVS? Did it come with the T-shirt?

No T-shirt, just copious bass.

You need to send Rich(f107plus5) a PM. He is the m3/m50 expert around here. I don't personally know how the two compare, but I believe that the m50s are the m3s that go much lower. One suggestion that I have would be to order a pair of m3s and a pair of m22s, and you could send the pair you like the least back. If you really like the m3s, you could get another pair and use the second pair for the rears, add a sub and center and you would be flying high.
