I considered the 885S but bought the 3805 for 699 instead. The 885 should do you well.

Hey New2Axiom, maybe someone nearby can help you setup your gear. Offer beer and you might get some takers. Where do you live?

Offer beer
Of course, offer too much and your system will only be calibrated to "Whole Lotta Love" at 110dB!

Did somebody say something about free beer and loud music?
Hey NTA congrats on the new system, I hope you'll enjoy yours like many of us enjoy ours.
If I may add my half a cent. I'd almost be reluctant to pay for a professional installer just yet, as intimidating as things can seem at the moment it does not take too terribly long for all of this A/V stuff to come together and actually learning the system and installing is 'half the fun'. I would probably give it a go and then call an installer if you feel you need to. Either way, good luck!

Oh I agree that it is fun learning how to setup the system and so on. My one main concern is the speaker wire and getting it it all laid out nice around the base board or under the carpet. Thats the part that im scared about. With it being a new house and all I want it to look perfect. I have little patiance with things like that. As far as the electronic side of it, thats the fun part that I would love to mess with and tweak. Any suggestions or websites that would list professionals in home theater set up. Thanks

This site was mentioned recently on another forum.
Home Acoustics Alliance
Click on "Dealer Locater" in the menu on the left hand of the page.
I have no experience with this web site, this organization, or it's members, so you should not interpret my mentioning them as a recommendation.

I went ahead and bought the denon AVR-885S Silver. http://usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/511.asp Should power my system nicely.
How much of a difference do you guy think I will notice with this new system compared to my current $300.00 Home Theater in a box? lol

Also, I will be buying a new DVD player soon. Which ones are the best for HDTV's nowadays? Should I wait for a true HDDVD player to come out or is that a long time away? Thanks

It might be best to wait for 2nd generation HD player, if they ever come out. There are a couple of good players, Oppo and Panny, that get good reviews. $2-300.
