Due to the appreciation in the direction that Jack has steered the "3ti's in a boohshelf" thread I thought it would be interesting to start a new thread for posting pictures of yourself either in HS or College days. Let's just say the "good old days" and then a picture of you now. I personally am going to need some time to find the approopriate material so I will not post right now. I know something like this has been tried before but I thought with the "then and now" concept it might be fun and generate more posts. It is also very nice to be able to put a face with some of the sig's. For instance, I had Craig pegged all wrong, he looks nothing like I pictured him.

Or, in Jack's case, can it be a Daguerreotype?
How about cave drawings? Are cave drawings acceptable?

Colour, black and white, tin type I don't really care. Let's just see "then and now". If you are really brave provide dates or at least how old you think you were in the then shot.

Cave drawings? Even the mayor of Axiomland did not have to resort to cave drawings.

This ought to be fun. Since Oz initiated the thread (and since the lucky #@$ got to see Richard Thompson Friday night), here's a shot from either '90 or '91 -- can't remember which -- backstage at the Varsity in Baton Rouge. I'm the scraggly, sweaty guy in the black t-shirt. Richard is the cheery balding fellow in the light blue shirt.
...And here's one taken in Santa Monica this past September. A little sunburned, but enjoying a Bitburger down at Venice Beach:

Looking good Mike. Both are great shots. As for the sun burn, when you get to be my age you'll run for shade or the bottle of sun block. It's amazing how the sun will contribute to the aging process. Tell me somethinbg. The girl in the foreground in the white top? She has to be Richards' daughter yes?

LOL! My first reaction after seeing my first photo of Craig was "That's not how Craig is supposed to look!" The next time I talked to him I told him he was going to have to change his looks to match how I pictured him. He didn't laugh.
I love this idea Oz. Hope everybody will participate.
Mike, the 14 or 15 years have been kind to you. LOOKING GOOD! I used to perform at a little club in Santa Monica 35 years ago, which I'm sure is long gone. It was called The Attica. We were performing there one night, when George Carlin walked in, explained that he had a new routine he wanted to try out, and asked if we would allow him to take the stage. Needless to say we had a great time that night.

Actually, no. Jenny would be flattered to hear you say that, though. That was the second show of Richard's I'd ever seen. The first was the night before in New Orleans at Tipitina's. My friend Tom (white shirt, baseball cap) and I drove down from Tuscaloosa to Tip's to see some guy named Richard Thompson. He was supposed to be some hotshot guitar player and a decent songwriter. We figured, "hey -- even if the show is lousy, we'll still be in New Orleans."
It was one of those nights where everything came together. We knew the Quarter well enough, but we'd never been to Tipitina's (waaaaaaaaaaay on the other end of Canal Street down by the warehouses on the river). So we got there much too early and as a result we were basically resting our beers on the stage. Richard was incredible, and after the show one of the staff members allowed us backstage. Richard was charming and affable, and after Tom and I gathered our remaining brain cells, we drove back to Tuscaloosa hellbent on dragging some friends BACK DOWN to Baton Rouge the very next night so they could share in the fun. The girl in the purple was my girlfriend at the time. The other two were just good friends who decided to join us in our madness. 24 shows later, he's still the best act I'll catch in any given year.

Jack, thanks for the kind words. Santa Monica is a beautiful town and I had a great time there. I can't even imagine what must have been going through your mind when George walked up to the stage. I love that kind of stuff -- those are the kinds of stories we love to tell and people enjoy hearing.

Great shots Tom! Glad to see you grew into those glasses in the second picture. Looking at that family shot I I would change that sig to "my family is proof that god wants me to be happy!" Not that I think we can improve on Ben's words.

That's ok Peter. We're allowing kids in just this once.
We all know this is not entirely the geriatric audio forum. Can you imagine some of the threads. "High frequency hearing shot! will a pair of these help my Axioms sound better?"
Good to see the face behind all those great jokes.

Nice pictures, Peter. Your lovely wife seems so, well, normal considering her lot in life (being married to you, that is).
Thanks for the kinds words, gentlemen. That first photo was about the earliest/easiest quasi-adult picture I could come up with, and I thought that part of the idea here was to demonstrate previous bad choices in fashion in addition to documenting the ravages of time.

OK here goes. Let's see if I have enough grey cells left to do this right. This first one was when I was 16 or 17 yrs. old I had a serious Dave Clark Five thing going here.
This next one I was 23 it was taken shortly after I got married.
This next one I'm about 25 or 26. I couldn't believe this when I came across it and thought it was perfect for this forum.
This last one is about a year and a half old and was taken by my assistant at the studio.
OK guys and girls who's next?

Yeah! That is one wild bunch of women. Most of them are stylists that I work with. Two of them are photographers and one is my assistant who has since returned to Brazil. One was my art director who has since left to raise her family. This is what I have to deal with day to day and this is why it is so hard for me to get up and go to work each morning.

OK...I'll try to take on the job of spokesperson for all(well, maybe Some)of the fine feathered individuals pictured!!
Actually, the Wife and I are...uh,....um,...tryin' to figure out how to tie the scanner/copy machine/printer into the Axiom web site.(more specifically this forum and this thread and right about "HERE")
We have nearly current pictures on file in the computer, and old photos scattered liberally throughout the house, but they ain't gettin' from here to there
Many of us are perhaps less cluckin' but more computer illiterate than we'd really like to admit even to ourselves(let alone openly and to the entire world!!!)
(I learned Bolean Algebra in the 60s in my 1st computer classes, but manipulatin' zeros and ones ain't helpin' me much today )
We are though, I'll betcha, more than glad to see the pics of all those we have come to(think)we know over these last few weeks, months, and years, but just can't figure out how to communicate our own immages.

I have the perfect photo in mind (because I look like an idiot AND it shows my rack of stereo equipment when I was in H.S.!) but it's in the attic and only my wife knows where it is!
She promises to fish it out in the next day or two.

Sounds like a winner Mark, can't wait to see. That is my excuse, I'm here at work with no old pictures of myself. But I do still use my pair of Fisher 10" 3-way speakers from the days of old for Halloween. I tend to throw little away.

It has been brought to my attention that I may have acted a bit rashly in my judgment of certain individuals for their lack of participation in this thread. I should have first considered other possible reasons for their behavior. These days are challenging and it’s not easy to stay abreast of technology. What with networking, web hosting, ftp, dsl, digital capture, file conversion, uploading and a new OS to learn every 6 months it’s amazing we get anything done at all.
After careful consideration and in the spirit of being a good neighbor I would like to send my heartfelt apology to any one who’s feelings I might have hurt and certainly to all those who fall into the category mentioned above. I would also like to apologize to our fine feathered friends. I meant no slander by comparing you cute little things to some of the characters in this forum.
That said there are some who do not fall into the above mentioned category.
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
All I can say to you is

While there are a multitude of perfectly valid excuses for not participating -- discomfort with the privacy issue, lack of a scanner, indifference to the idea, etc. -- let me point out that web hosting space is not among these. If your ISP doesn't provide some free space to its customers (and most do), there are plenty of options like Photobucket available.
I'd definitely like to see some more faces (and old, horrible photos). Just my .02.

OK……
Those of you who know me, know that there aren't multiple photos below because I'm egotistical…quite the opposite. But… I do have a tendency to go overboard on everything I do!
So, in the spirit of allowing others to laugh at me a bit, here goes. Most of my real childhood photos are at my parents; I mostly have self-portraits done since I was a teen. Not surprisingly, they are often the most fun!
Here's the one I mentioned earlier, probably Circa 1979 :
Now remember, this was in Rhode Island… not Texas. The cowboy hat was an anomaly… I don't think I ever wore it in public. I did, however wear the corduroy suit! The rack of equipment next to me is something I made in shop class. You can't see it in this photo, but I had two toggle switches on a panel that provided a light above the TT and a muffin fan for the amp. Barely visible on the right is my big-ass 12" 3-way speakers on a home-built stand. In hindsight, they probably sounded awful… but probably achieved 115dB on Stranglehold and Toys In The Attic. Yes, that's an Aerosmith poster in the upper left.
Thing is, that photo is not me. This is how I really looked:
Prom… with the Cordoba:
Retouching a portrait for my portfolio at photography school (probably 1984):
Self-promo portrait when I started my photography business after graduation (probably 1987):
Shooting stock footage at the Laconia Bike Week (probably 1997):
Finally, a couple of months ago:
Sorry, no photos with a gaggle of girls… though I did once go clubbing with four models and myself when I was in photography school. No photos though.
Dammit.
Now, who's got the guts to go next?

Actually, the person in the print that I'm retouching was a nice guy and fellow student who, unfortunately, committed suicide not long after graduation.
I still have the print. Though I have no use for it in terms of a sample, I was never able to get in touch with any of his family to offer them the portrait, and it just seems wrong to throw it out....

Her name is Stacy. I have worked with her for many years. She is one of the best stylists I have had the pleasure of working with. She then became an Art Director for the last 2 years of working with her. She recently left to have her third child. She decided to stay at home when her husband (a lawyer) was offered a partnership in the firm he was at. We worked together on many beauty and cosmetics books and produced some great work together. I would always tell her "Thanks for making me so look good"

OK...I'll play.
Christmas morning, circa 1978.
*note* that reaction is a re-inactment. That is pretty much exactly my pose/reaction when I opened that gift, by my parents didn't have the camera ready, so they had me replay it.
On Lake Lucern, Spring 2005.
and well, since I was digging through pictures.

Nice one Craig. I remember on a couple of occasions opening presents on Christmas morning and finding a slot car race track from Santa. Good times. I could play for hours on end.

Great shots Craig! Is there a story behind Mr Bear? If memory serves I think I have seen other references to Mr. Bear? I thought it was a pet that you named Bear.

Mr. Bear was the first gift Roger ever gave me.
He typically goes on vacation with us. We've got pictures of him in Switzerland, France, Italy, St. Croix, Montreal, and all over California.
Oh yeah. He likes porn. (don't we all?)

Mark,
Are you wearing harness boots in the picture of the "real you"...?
Nothing against them...owned a few pair myself.
Also, did the Chrysler Cordoba have

"Rich Corinthian Leaaather...?"

Gotta love it...
I gotta do some digging to see what pics I can come up with...

Funny, that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the Chrysler Cordoba. The powers of advertising!

Here we go . . . Amie through the decades.
L'il Amie, circa 1979
Amie, 1985
Amie, 1996 (token babe hanging near me shot?)
And of course we all know what I look like now.
Now I'll find a couple of classic Ian pics.

Hey EddyZ;
I think you can take pics to your local photomat to be scanned onto a disc? I'm pretty sure that is where. Then if you email them to me I'll post them for you, or you can host them at sites like Photobucket. I also saw someone take a roll of film to a kodak developer who put the whole roll on a kodak site that you could link to, but I don't know how it works with scanning there.

Thank! You! Amie! You have a wonderful smile that will serve you well as the years go by. My Mother has a terrific smile and, to this day, even at the age of 93, it lightens my heart every time I see it.

Thanks, Tom and Jack - this was too fun to pass up! I'm really looking forward to seeing more - the whole staff is gathering around this thread in the mornings to put more faces to the names. Now I want to pull in Haloeb, BrenR, etc - the pics that were bravely posted before! Who's next?

OK, here's many. Most are new; like I said, I don't have many old ones digitized.
This was about 10 years ago. In my defense, this was the second day of a camping trip. I didn't exactly sleep well the night before, and hair care products were not in abundance.
Here's about 3 years ago, me with our cats:
Here's me in Mexico this year, with the first, um, fish? I've ever caught. The gulls got this one...
And here's a better picture of me from a little later in the year.
I'll see if I can dig up any other old ones...
Arg, I can't make them show up in the browser at the proper resolution. Sorry about the pixelization...

I believe that it is Najohe Falls, near Lompoc, California. I could be wrong on the spelling...
And since Adam's getting all geeky with the camera stuff, I'm pretty sure that last one was taken with my new Canon 100mm 1:1 Macro lens.

One question, though, do they have a "quick access" panel for potty time?

Well......... If I get enough courage, I'll rummage through the old photo's and see what I can come up with. The 80's weren't pretty. In fact, I should probably change my screen name - I really don't live back there anymore.
