Newf, that is a good thought... I will check that out.

Alan, thanks for the post! I have made a few adjustments since I've been home from work... moved it up to the very end of the TV, about 1 inches... and tilted it down about another inch or so.

the sound is MUCH different... it is amazing how much different. I really don't understand it... but i'm not that smart

I'm now re-running AVIA and the auto EQ calibration that comes with this receiver. I think i'm definetly getting somewhere though!

Thanks again to all for the help.

Jim

Jim , although I've made clear that my preference is for a vertical center speaker(if any),I haven't experienced the major difference you describe(haven't heard the VP150). In addition to the rather remote possibility that your particular VP150 is damaged, the suggestions offered by Alan and others may be helpful. One possibility that you mentioned can be disregarded; you aren't "pumping so much power" through it. Most of the time about 1 watt is being "pumped" regardless of the maximum capability on brief peaks which the amplifier has.

I've heard two VP150's myself and I think this speaker is just picky about where it sits. I do think it is a fine center however. In my setup I would say the VP150 'disapears' which may sound like a ho-hum way to compliment it but to me thats actually a good thing.
