No offence to us forum folks, but I doubt the forums are on the top of Axiom's list for "mission critical" system support.

This is true about the forum but the home page wouldn't come through.I think it's safe to say that without being able to get to the home page sales could suffer. That would be a priority to Axiom, wouldn't it ?

Time is money, that's for sure, heck look at poor Nick Buol, he got the axe because of a network outage that was not his fault. Sometimes these things can't be predicted, as some managers think. My manager thinks we always have to be proactive and fix the problems, not the symptoms. Maybe in a utopia, not the real world.

Ahh, I missed that. Yes, definitely the home page and product pages would be mission critical for a company like Axiom. My mistake...

It might have been a DNS issue totally out of their control.

Well, the site only crashes when all the conditions are primed: in this case, our webmaster was out of the country. I was away on 'girls weekend' which meant Ian was out on 'boys night' and of course, it was a Saturday! Combine all of those things and the conditions are perfect for a crash.
Site went down over a PHP issue and our webhosts switched to our backup server; about an hour later they switched back to the production server and we've been running on it ever since. Still looking into the PHP problem here (and the VISA problem ).

There are probably more people on the forum who can help with the PHP problem than with the Visa problem

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. Personally it's a MasterCard problem, but the root cause is identical.
