littleb - you picked out the highlight of the day!!!
In echoing jakeman's (John) comments (except for the part about me since I already knew myself when I got there ), I must add that John brought a level of knowledge that was impressive and easily understood in the way he presented it. He also brought a CD of pipe organ music that moved the house off it's foundations and eliminated the need for Jack's daily dose of prune juice.
Based on the successful assaults Jack and I have made on Curtis's wallet over the last year, he'll appreciate what John has done to me (supported by the demo of the 500).
I was very happy with my SVS 20-39 PCi until I caught the 500's performance. The upgrade virus began spreading through my body when we found out that the 500 was stellar. John took me to a whole 'nother place based on the 22'x25' room I'll be doing in the basement.
"Rather than upgrade, why not just keep the SVS and get a 500 for the other side of the room?" he said. Thanks John, thanks ALOT!!!
When I broached the subject to my bride, giving John full credit for his idea, I was pleased to find that she is not accurate with a baseball bat. She walked away mumbling something about"... no Christams card for that rat bast**d in Toronto..".
I'm not hopeful about my chances.

Don't put your guard down yet, Ray. I told Joyce that you were the instigator behind the sub test (she doesn't know who Craig is) and that I now wanted a 500.
She threw a crossbow in the trunk of her car a few minutes ago, mumbling something about tonight's driving weather in western NY.

I never had a sub before my EP500. What I read makes me glad I jumped in with both feet. It's awesome!

Just for that Ray I'm going to force you to put one of my bass traps in a corner of your HT room beside your new 500 when I drive down to Rochester to visit my brother.

Yes, thanks for the photos. I noticed earlier we didn't have any of you Jack, but of course you were busy taking them. The group shot you mentioned, and any of the equipment and room would be great to see.
Dave.

Fair enough John! BTW, are those things any good for stopping crossbow arrows?

My bride isn't worried. She knows I'm not that to purchase a $1100 subwoofer. I don't think I am. . .or am I?

Yes stops arrows, works well with dartboards and soaks up spilled draft beer as well sound. With this much going for it every HT room should have one.
By the way has anyone experimented with the flat, half, full trim control on the 500/600? I know it boosts above 33hz and was wondering what your impressions were.

Thanks so much to Craigsub and family for putting this thing on and thanks to all the participants who took the time to listen and reflect their experience so amply, especially compared with most shoot-out type comparisons where you just hear about the final score and not each individuals thoughts on every sample.
It is wonderful to read the comments and suprising at times. Thanks again to all.
PS
Would absolutely love to hear comparisons of the Hsu VTF series against Axiom and SVS. Maybe someday over the rainbow.
