Just finished putting in my order for a pair of M60ti. Next month will be the EP500 followed by a pair of S8s soon after that.

ps What is the best thing to read up on in order to get my speakers set up the best way possible. I've heard about getting the radio shack thing, but don't how to use it once I get it.

Well, you won't really need the Radio Shack Sound Pressure Level Meter (either the analog or digital meter will do the job) until you add the 500, surrounds, and center channel. It's used to balance the volume levels of all those speakers, so that, when seated in your favorite spot, all those speakers are equally loud. Once you add the 500, you'll need the meter, and here are some calibration tutorials.

I'm almost 50 and always wanted a really nice sound system since I was about 16. Finally treating myself.

I hear ya Ken; I had to wait til my 60s to do the same!!

(actually, had to wait for HT to come along to justify it!!)

I had some good stuff that I'd gotten in Japan in the 1960s, but ditched it all when we got married. Then, it was average mediocre B&M stuff after that.....

...til now!

You're welcome. Once you get the hang of calibrating, it's not very difficult to do. One thing to remember is that calibration is absolutely the right place to start, but it is ONLY a start. Once calibrated, feel free to adjust things to your liking. Some of us run our center channels and/or subs a little hotter than the other speakers, some of us don't. Set your system up so it sounds good to YOU.

I'm so glad you've finally gotten your "really nice sound system." If you're like most of us, you'll discover a renewed love of music, and movies. I just turned 60, and didn't have my eyes (and ears) opened until I was 58, so you're getting yours opened sooner than I did. Enjoy!

Turned 51 this year and Axioms have given real enjoyment to Music and HT.

My whole family (wife of 23 years) and 3 daughters (20, 17, 12) think I'm nuts. I'm hoping that my system has a major wow factor for them, but I'm not expecting it to happen before I get my complete 5.1 (M60ti, EP500, VP500 and S8s).

My next purchase will be the EP500. Something tells me they may get a kick out of that.

Anybody out there get that kickbutt thing? Looks kind of cool.

Do you mean the Buttkicker? I thought about getting the Buttkicker LFE Kit at AVSForum's Powerbuys since now you can save about $200 and get it for $299.

Unfortunately, I think I've used my HT allowance for the year.

hehee ... laughing at myself regarding what I called it, but yeah, that one. I work nights so my EP500 will need to be sub ... dued a bit at night. The butkicker might do well with head phones late at night.
