Just thought i would post this for the sake of curiousity.
Four Axiom models are in the top 20. with enough review numbers to make the rankings fair and feasible. JBL also has 4 models on this list.

Nice to see that Axiom is right up there. Two things I noticed. I never knew that JBL was so good. I've heard a number of them here with a couple of friends and in some coffee shops. They're pretty small and throw out big sound but lack in midrange. Nothing too great to gloat about. Maybe I'm totally wrong or have heard only some specific models.
I'm also thinking about the absence of VMPS in the list. I've heard a few people rave so much about it. They've also won the CES award 2 times in a row and they're supposed to be superb. Just a thought....

It is hard to say what type/background of people primarily supply the reviews to this site. After looking at some truly pricey speakers, you will notice the reviews are minimal.
One hypothesis is that this list is generated by consumers who are looking for more inexpensive alternatives for good sound and hence why some of the other brands such as Ascend and Aperion are also making the list up high and why JBL and Axiom make the list several times over.

Since majority of reviewer do not own expensive high end speaker there are fewer reviews to begin with. Albiet a lot of people own the budget line JBL lines which is clearly seen in the reviews. The top picks are mostlike compiled using the most number of reviews.

As Axiomers we ought to go vote on that site and bring Axiom up on those lists!

Chess.. I would be interested in the mod to the crossovers mentioned in the review of the M22's dated: Fed 13, 2003, by James Gunter, of Oklahoma City.. A Series crossover using only two air core inductors and a resistor.. What ya tink? The Acoustic Reality .com address he gives is no (longer?) good..
LFE ! The rest is just details..

Mikey, I took a look at that post, and although I'm glad that Mr. Gunter is now able to enjoy his M22s so much after correcting the "cheap" crossover that Ian just tossed in, his comments appear absurd. There's nothing new or more complex(if anything they're simpler for amateur designers to work with)about series crossovers and speaker engineers would certainly unanimously adopt them if they made any significant improvement, much less the almost miraculous results reported in that post. You might find the brief analysis of series crossovers here of interest. Incidentally, I'm not the John k. or John K. or whatever there, but I agree with most of his analysis(if not with his spelling).
Mikey, I'd agree that the Acoustic Reality address he gave is no good, but in a different sense than you intended. Don't fall for these tales about the wondrous improvements that result when "quality"(i.e. high-priced)capacitors, etc. are substituted for what the engineers who designed the speaker used.

I agree with JohnK.
I put my faith in the R&D of the company.
They've done the testing with the components they've used, and for Axiom, this means having tested their speakers in a superb facility.
