I'm going to be buying some Axiom speakers soon. Either M22ti's and a Sub or M50's. I won't be purchasing surrounds or a center for a while so I was wondering if I'll get better sound quality in a ~$300 stereo amp than in a A/V receiver of the same price. Anyone able to fill me in?

Depends on how long you plan to go without a multi-channel setup, I guess.

No, Tyler, in general you won't get better sound quality from the stereo amp. The only circumstance would be if the stereo amp was higher powered and it happened that the receiver distorted at peaks(unlikely)when you played it at very high levels where the amp still would have been clean. Unless you think that it'll be a very long time before you add surrounds(which should definitely come before a center)you should get an A/V receiver so that you'll be ready.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.
