I often heard the VP150 has been criticized for having sibilance (over-pronounced "s", "sh" sounds,) a lack of bass and poor off-axis response with too great a degree of timbral change. but because I have axiom m60, QS80, would it be okay if I buy other brand of center speaker to match these speakers? I heard it is best to match the sound signature of the same brand, is this true! should I just buy some other brand center instead vp150??

I can't agree with those generalizations, in fact my blood pressure goes up whenever I see them repeated as fact. Off-axis response to my ears is perfect, sibilance totally depends on the source (crap in=crap out) and how much bass is actually mixed for a center channel? Plus most people have their centers set to small.
My opinion only, I'm sure devoted listeners of pink noise will disagree
I think I'll add I have 60's and QS8s to go along with the VP150. And...... the best way to tell; is to let your ears decide.

s002wjh, you have nothing to worry about, but rather based on biased feedback/reviews from people that for some reason like to bash Axiom. This topic comes up from time to time, usually by trolls from AVSforum. Funny how they magically vanish, once they start these rumors.
Anyway, don't get another brand center, get one that has the same tonal qualities and drivers of your other speakers. Besides, don't you want to get the same finish, so all the speakers look the same?
The VP150 is a great center, the best I've ever owned.

Sibilance. Poor off-axis. Couldn't be more wrong. In the HT department, the center holds its own. I use mains only for music.
That said. I am going to try a pair of M3s (1 over and 1 under the tv) to help tie dialog to the big screen. Or maybe 2 M3s above and the VP150 below. Won't know until I get them from FO.

I've had my VP150 for about 2 weeks now (along with m60ti's - review and pics forthcoming, I promise!) and haven't noticed any sibilance or any issues with off-axis response. In fact, my wife's favorite seating area is just to the outside of the right front speaker and she has not had trouble making out dialogue.
Regarding bass, I am hardly an audiophile but I have also been pleased with the VP150's range. I cross my center at 80hz and the sound seems very full to me.
I'm sure there are better speakers for *more* money, but considering the 30 day trial window, I recommend that give the VP150 a try. You may have a more discerning ear than I, but you should at least hear for yourself.

I don't even notice my VP-150...which is a good thing in my opinion. It doesn't sound like a "speaker", but very natural. I've never experienced sibilance unless a soundtrack was harsh to begin with.
