You really need to tell us more regarding your configuration (for ex. Receiver and Sub settings for crossover, volume(gain), dB's on sub channel, have you calibrated your system, etc...). I would not send it back until you've talked to Axiom, especially if one of us can't help you.
Glad you like your other speakers, and if there is in fact something wrong with the 350, Axiom will make it right for you, they always do...

kind of new to this so i will try..
No have not calibrated
yamaha 5890
have 0 dbl gain
crossover set at 120
it sounds like port chuff (growlng/barking dog) only on heavy base parts like explosions.
most movies sound great but some with heavy bass (well 2 i have tried so far out of 9) a really annoying sound.
Thanks for your help

i will call axiom..I have to say they have the best customer service/delivery times I have ever seen. I e-mailed that a bracket for the q4s (probably a $2 item ) was missing and they had it in my hands in less than 24 hours. unbelievable

120 Hz sounds like its a bit high to be crossing over with the M22's.
Try setting at 80 Hz or 90 Hz.

Try setting the crossover on your reciever to 80, and set your sub at 120 and see how that works, then adjust the volume on the sub to the levels you enjoy. A couple others on this forum are using the 5890 with the 350, mabey they can chime in.

When I had a 350, here was my setup and calibration:
All speakers set to small (60's, 150, qs8's)
Crossover on the receiver set to 80hz
Crossover on the sub, cranked to the max clockwise position since the receiver is doing the work, you don't need this.
dB levels on the receiver for the sub about 0dB
volume knob on the sub around the 11 o'clock position.
phase switch on 0
Also make sure you have your distance(delay) settings correct from each speaker to the listening position. I can't remember if that receiver has the autosetup microphone? If so, have you tried running the setup.
It is also nice to run the test tones on the receiver to make sure all the speaker channels sound the same, this is why a Radio Shack sound meter is nice.

I wouldn't call "port chuff" a horrible noise. It's more of a slightly annoying noise at high volumes and certain frequencies. Sounds like something may be "more wrong" with the 350, ie something damaged in the driver or loose in the cabinet -- definitely give Axiom a buzz.

True, many times it can be as simple as one of the screws need to be snugged up on the driver and/or amp. Another option is even the slightest bit of sawdust or wood chip getting in the way from the driver/amp sealing tight can cause air to escape and produce strange noises. My 350 never produced any strange noises at any volumes. Good Luck.
