Flat white painted wall as screen.

Photos taken with 3.2 digital camera.
Paused movies shots a little blured but look ok.
Shots taken 16 ft away and screen size is 110" diag.

-DVD Pannasonic S-77
-Motorola HDTV DVR cable box
-Apple i-pod
-PS2
-5 Disc cd player
-Bose acustimass3
-Reference Vivid tower speakers
All equipment except i-pod is optical audio.

DVD is HDMI.

DVR and PS2 are Conponent.

Will upgrade to fixed wall screen and axiom speakers.

Jeez! Another person with a relatively neat wiring setup behind their equipment. Someday, I'll have the courage to take a photo of my rat's nest and post it. YUCK!

Are you using the Acoustimass speakers for movies and the tower speakers for music? What use do you intend for the Axioms, and which Axioms are you considering.

Rats nest is a good name for that pic ! I havent had time to clean it up and make it look pretty. When I do I'll look into some loom covering.

I was using the Bose speakers for Theater on chanel A and the Towers for music Chanel B.
But recently I have tried using A and B together and results sound good. I find the bose lack bass and the towers have lots.

I like the looks of the epic 80's but overkill is not what I'm looking for so I'll proably get the 60's with the larger center and larger bass mod.

I really need a screen to improve pitcher and make room more theater like.

Excellent room and set up. I appreciate these kinds of posts more since doing my basement project.

BTW, not being one to miss an opportunity to be helpful , you show a particular picture (among a whole BUNCH of pictures ) of 4 remote controls.

Given what your system looks like, I'd ask if you have considered an MX-850 universal remote. There are a couple of older threads on the forum that might prove interesting.

If you have an interest, search on "MX-700" (the 850's predecessor) for some good insight into the power of this wonderful device. There is a whole cadre of Axiomites that have jumped on the thing with pleasing results.

I expect one of the following posts will also introduce you to the Harmony alternative too.

Very nice setup man, similar to mine. The only advice I would give you, if you can get the wifes permission is to paint the back wall a dark flat color, black is best. If you notice your first picture, you have lots of light scatter on the walls/ceiling. Your perceived contrast will drastically improve if you can do something like this, or build a screen with a border using Black Velvet/Felt. The screen will look like it is floating in space....Looks awesome

Nice setup, and I agree with Ray a new remote would fit the bill.

Very nice layout Artcair, neat and tidy! I agree with Ray regarding a universal remote and having the equipment behind the couch area you may want to also consider an IR system so you can point the remote at the screen and have it bounce it to the equipment behind you.

Trust me. Compared to what is going on behind my equipment, your pic is what one finds in the dictionary next to the word "tidy."

My remotes looked like that until the 880!

LOL, Those three replaced the 12 remotes I had between three rooms

Did any of you folks have any problems with the 880s charging cradle? I've had to replace the battery and the cradle on mine because it didn't charge correctly.

No problems with mine, although I did read somewhere awhile back that some people had that same problem.

The cradle is the worst designed part of the 880. You have to coddle it to get it to work.

Doug if I remember correctly this problem was primarily on the first run remotes and Logitech remedied the problem with a better cradle design soon after, but I *could* be way off base though. I bought mine within a couple of days whenever the 880 was introduced.

I have one of the first one's off the rack.

Logitech has been unresponsive except for my inability to correctly set it in the cradle.

Rick, you are correct, when the 880 first came out they did have some problems with the cradle not charging and they changed the design.

Maybe you can convince them that I have a bad one!

Doug I called Logitch on the phone and they sent me a new battery and cradle right away. I haven't had the chance to use the new cradle and battery as of yet because I have my system down for some final trim and to add an IR system...hopefully soon!

Give 'em a shout..yell, kick and scream ... they'll have you a new cradle and battery in no time.

I did read they initially replaced the cradles that weren't working, mine is a bit touchy also, but once I hear the beep and see the screen of the remote and cradle come up it charges fine.

I have to admit I haven't emailed Logitech since late January. It's the remote the wife uses and since she's a CPA, she hasn't watched much tv since Jan. 1. I will begin with a phone call Monday.

You have a new one?

I can put mine down. It will charge and maybe half an hour later it will start beeping. Nobody's touched it. I have to reseat it to stop the beeping.

I got mine on E-bay used but I beleive it's only a couple months old. Never had any problems with it beeping once its charging.

Just put my order in for a VP-150 v2 (black)
Its going to replace that little bose cube that the vacume never sucks up!

I will run new wire to my receiver and loose the bose left and right mains and use my existing towers.

I would have liked to bought a whole new speaker set up but i'll just get one peice at a time. I'll get the QS8's for the surrounds next then a EP500 and some 80's to finish it off.

Way too much money spent on gaming consoles, you do realize that those 2 units are the sub.

I got my VP150 today and wow the box was alot bigger then i expected.

I wired my towers to the main L & R and ran a new wire for the center. The sub and rears are bose and they sound better with the new front setup!

My test movie was THE FITH ELEMENT in blu-ray using optical and wow its never sounded so good!

The VP150 brings voices to life with such detail. You can hear voices in there true enviroment, rooms , walls , outside ,inside cars etc etc ....

I did notice i had to raise the volume a little higher then before but it helps the rear surrounds and for once it feels like im in the movie!

Can someone help me with my center EQ setup. My yamaha has built in center eq and here are the optional settings.
100 Hz -6 -5 -4 -3-2-1- 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +6
300 Hz
1 kHz
3 kHz
10 kHz
The range is the same on all of them -6 to +6 and i have them all set to zero.

Is there a better way to set it up?

Arc, it isn't likely that someone else can give you an evaluation of whether you should apply equalization to the center channel; it depends on your particular circumstances. Flat may be fine, but some who have had difficulty in understanding dialog have applied a small boost(e.g. 2-3dB)to the "formant frequencies"(roughly 1-3KHz)which are most significant in making speech intelligible. This was done instead of boosting the overall level of the center channel.
