Hi everyone,

Brand new to the board. I have been looking at Axiom Speakers for some time and have decided it may be a good idea to go with the Epic 80 system based on my 3700 sq. ft. finished basement. Anywho, I would like feedback from folks who have bought from the outlet.....

Where there really noticeable marks, imperfections?
Did you have any issues with them at all?

Your honest feedback will help me determine if saving 10% is worth it or not. Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris, welcome.

I think you will find very few people who have had any kind of negative experience with products from the Factory Outlet. The worst thing is probably the additional waiting period.

I have M60's and QS8's from the FO, and they are basically flawless.

Welcome Chris, as Tom said the outlet products are from what I've seen almost perfect, now you just have determine if the wait is worth 10%

There would be no reason to be not Honest.

Here is some results from a short poll I did over a year ago. I can say that I purchased all of my speakers from the outlet and can't find a single blemish or flaw. Technically there is not difference between the outlet versus regular inventory. These are not returns or refurbished speakers. Same warranty applies.

All Axioms from FO 31 (36%)
All Axioms from regular inventory 15 (17%)
Mix of Axioms from FO and Regular 27 (32%)
Mix of Axioms from FO & other brand speakers 5 (05%)
Mix of Axioms from Reg. & other brand speakers 6 (07%)

I have the M60 from the outlet, I couldn’t find any blemishes on them, nothing ,nada. I bought them 3 years ago, at the time there wasn’t even a wait period for outlets.

Thanks for the quick and helpful responses. You have made my decision very easy!! I will be sure to order from the FO. Waiting is not an issue as I have to wait till after my wedding in October anyway before ordering. Gotta pay off all the expenses from that first....my wife to be has finally given in since I have been a good boy and been real patient before buying anymore toys for the house.

The other piece of the puzzle is getting an Outlaw 7700 amp, and down the line upgrade the HK AVR 435 to a dedicated Pre/Pro.

Thanks again!!

Chris

Yeah, I remember those days of having lots of toys, funny how as the years go by they become smaller and smaller. I would say get them while you have a chance. lol

i purchased the same set of speakers from FO and there was nothing visibly damaged.....they looked brand new to me....cann't go wrong with FO.....plus u save additional $$$$s...the choice is yours.....the only drawback is the wait time....but most people receive their speakers before the expected date of delivery (EDOD)

I have purchased both "normal" and Factory Outlet speakers. In my case the Factory Outlet speakers (QS8s) had one small "ding" in each speaker, roughly what you could make by pressing your thumbnail into the edge.

Were I buying again, I would buy the mains "full price" because they are kind of "on display" and even the tiniest ding can be noticeable in the right light, but I would buy everything else FO because nobody will ever know, including yourself.

The other nice thing is that you would have M80s to listen to while waiting for everything else to arrive

EDIT -- it wouldn't hurt to check with Axiom re: whether mixing regular stock and FO stock in this way would affect the 5% discount. I don't think it would but check, OK ?

I bought 2 pair from the F/O and 1 from regular stock.
The only defect I could find was on the pair from regular stock. How's that for irony? Amie @ Axiom customer service took care of the situation with no problems. Honestly, on the 2 pair from F/O I can not find a problem.

I bought from both. The FO speakers all had flaws, but I had to look very hard to find them on all but one. The 600 had a vinyl overrun on a corner. Looked pretty bad, but a jeweler’s file took care of the problem and now it’s undetectable.

So, don’t buy them thinking you won’t find anything wrong, you may. It may be too much, but then again, you may not be able to find anything wrong at all.

Wise advice mdrew, though that vinyl overrun is the worst blemish I've heard of from the FO.

He he he...I like the comments fellas. She is definitely a keeper. She does endure all my hobbies...namely my addiction to that evil game World of Warcraft. It's so darn fun though. If any of you play I'm on the Burning Legion Server, character name is Bowlseye.

Back to the speaker stuff...I got advice from JC and Alan on my setup. The funny thing is they kinda varied on the subwoofer...JC likes a single EP600 over 2 EP500s. Alan likes the 2 sub setup. I think I will go with the EP600 so I don't have buyers remorse and wonder what if anything I'm missing from the EP500. I'm sure it is very minimal but I like to maximze my purchase. Anyone have a thought on this subject??

I need some clarification, you say 3700 sq ft, did you mean cubic feet? We have a pretty nice sized ranch, and my basement is 2200 Sq Ft, but the HT/Rec Room is 900 Sq Ft. The HT portion of this larger room is over in one of the corners which is about 15ft x 25ft or so. The EP500 blows me away and I swear my house is coming off of its foundation sometimes.

It is 3700 cubic..sorry. So maybe a dual EP 500 would be better?

Well my room is pushing 8,000 Cu. Ft. and one 500 is fine, I used to use a 350.

I would agree that one EP500 or EP600 should be sufficient for a room that size.

Well seeing how you are already considering buying two 500’s, why not go with one 600 and a set of M80’s??

My logic……two 500’s and a set of M60’s is $3360. One 600 and the M80’s is $3080.

You could save $280 and put it towards something else!!!!

Where’s Rick?? He’ll agree with me……..

I like the feedback....I guess the single EP600 will be what I get. I'm already going to get the M80's a part of the Epic 80 system. Plus, my future wife will like the less money spent (extra used toward Outlaw AMP) and 1 fewer piece of equipment she has to look at.

It seems there are two schools of thought on the subwoofer debate. Even bass response (2 EP500) vs. WOW effect (EP600). I'm going for no holds barred action and excitement. I forgot to mention I have a Mirage Omni 12 sub that could be thrown in the mix. I'm a little hesitant to use a lesser sub with either of these two beasts. Keep the feedback rollin'.....

I don't know how good that sub is compared to axioms, but you should definately throw it in and set it at a lower volume to help flatten out the bass response in the room.
