Hi all! Just got my new TV installed. I assembled the Omnimount shelf for my center channel (VP150) only to notice once I put the CC on top of the TV, the weight of the CC is pushing down the top of the TV frame (con-caved). My wife will not go for a CC stand in front of the rack, so that is out of the question. My only option I think is to return the VP 150 and by the VP100 so I can fit it in the center shelf of my rack. Is there a BIG difference between the 150 and 100?

My wife also hates having the CC in front of her rack. j/k lol There has to be other options for mounting the CC above your TV. I am sure aothers will chime in soon. Good luck

Not sure I follow your problem, can you post a pic as Dennis has mentioned? I think others are using the omnimount method with no problems

what if you replace that wood shelf above the tv w/ a shelf just for the CC? B-Tech has a set called the BT-15 that would work. I actually have 2 unused sets if you're interested. PM me.

I would replace the little wooden shelf above the TV with something more substantial for both the CC and the plant. You could make a nice looking 4-5' wide shelf about 12-15" deep with some sturdy brackets. Gets the speaker off the TV and looks more finished.

Don, Take a look at this mount .I bought this size for a 46 pound center. There is a smaller size available that should work for the VP150. Google the manufacturer/model number and you'll get a better price than BB. You can see my setup with the mount in this thread in the 6th and 8th pictures. The arm attached to the wall pivots and the tray (has a small lip on the front) the speaker sits on tilts. I put a stud in during construction specifically for mounting this puppy. The VP 150 is substantially lighter than my CC, so toggle bolts should work for you. The speaker essentially blocks any view of the mount and the CC appears to be floating from the seating position. Hope the input is helpful. Ray

Im not sure that is the best idea. Why not keep the 150 and put up a better shelf that will hold the 150 and the plants.

trust me, if it was totally up to me, i would by another stand or a shelf to put the speaker on. It's my wife that is rejecting the two options. That shelf is only going to be there till I move into my new house. If the VP100 does not work, I will need to return the entire Axiom speaker combo. I have talked to to people at Axiom, and they told me that the VP100 will not sound all that much different. The seating distance in my new living room is 8-9' from the screen.

if it were me, I would wait for the wife to go out somewhere and replace the shelf. its better to do and apolagize later.

Funny! Just buying a new house and all the stuff that goes with it (ie; shutters), she would kill me ...

It's so funny what 'they' get latched onto. My wife was vehemently opposed to floor-standing speakers. She went on a short trip and when she returned she found M60's and a gift certificate for a new saddle. Now she loves how the M60's sound and rides her horse more.

Is there a specific web site for this activity or is this a general ebay for sale listing?

maybe you can get a shelf that is almost as wide as your tv and maybe a little thicker-the width should help distribute the weight evenly across the entire set ......just an idea

Check these out http://www.omnimount.com/pdf/pdf_pro/specifications/STXspec.pdfThese are the omnimount Pro, you might have to go to a store that sells PA gear, Guitar center or something of that nature, and they will most likely have to order it in special. I have just ordered the WA 20.5 for my M22s. They have wall mounts that can hold up to 120lb speakers. If you put a wall mount, threaded into the back of the speaker you should be able to adjust it so that it is just above the TV, but the weight is not on it. http://www.omnimountpro.com/That is the main web site so that you can find the best mount. My wife wants to paint my mounts the same colour as the walls so that you can't see them. It is hard to find a non pro mount that will support the weight of the VP150. But just be sure to screw into a stud. No drywall ancors will support the weight, and use a 3" screw, and that thing will stay up no matter what!!

tv makers should start to realize that there is a need for cabinet reinforcement and a level area needed for cc placement and build it into the tv tops

Be careful of the way you are interpreting these specifications. The mount will hold 120 lbs. hanging 12" from the ceiling. If you are mounting on the wall and the speaker is 12" from the wall, the maximum weight would be far less than 120 lbs. It would be nice to know what the weight limit would be for this type of wall mount application.

Some of the mounts are made for on wall, and the weight spec is for wall mounting with all the mounts except the ones that specifically say celing. These mounts are designed for PA speakers which are pretty big. That is why I said be sure you get it into a stud with long screws. I will post more info once I get my WA20.5 brackets for my M22s They should be in in about a week. I was wondering about the strength so I called Omnimount before I ordered them, and they confirmed it will hold a 20lb speaker at full length (about 6") no problem. If you go to the web site and look at literature you get a pdf document that shows the suze of the parts for the different weight ratings, and everything else that you need to make sure that the bracket you are looking at will do what you want it to. http://www.omnimount.com/pdf/pdf_pro/literature/ProCatOMounts.pdfIs the document. I went with the WA20.5 since my speakers are mounted pretty high, and I want to toe them in a bit, and angle them down to the listening area. I spent a day and a half looking for the brackets that would work the best for me, and I didn't find anything close to the omnimounts.

Don, it seems *to me* from your photo that the curvature of the TV frame due to the weight of the VP150 is minimal ... are you concerned with ascetics or maybe the weight of the CC bending the frame of the TV?
I have a VP150 along with a VP100 and although the VP100 is a very nice center channel I couldn't see giving up the 150 for it.
