I went to Best Buy and CIrcuit City and all their TV stands were designed for 60" plasmas and they sold for $299. I currently have a tv stand that is 23" tall but the VP150 blocks about 2" of the bottom of the screen. So I am looking for some sort of stand that is about 18" high, or perhaps a bit lower. Has anybody found anyrhing like this?

Some use the omnimount...which attaches to the back of LCD?Plasma screens. Some have issues with it, though.

This is a good question, though, as I will be looking for something similar, rather soon.

I was thinking of mounting the flat screen to the wall...and the speaker could rest on the current TV stand, so that might be another way to go (unless you don't have a flat screen).

Good luck...and of course, I would like to hear others' opinions.

That stand is the right height but looks a little too narrow. I would be more comfortable with a stand at least 24 inches wide. Also, that price is a bit steep. Thanks for the link. Illl see what else they have.

How about mounting it on the wall behind/above the TV using an Axiom FMB?

Greg, strangely, I don't think you're going to find a center channel stand with a top plate much wider than the 14" on the stand recommended above. At least, I haven't run across any.

I didn't have much bucks to spend, so I purchased some $40 Sanus 16" wooden speaker stands, bought a small, inexpensive 1x8 piece of pine, spray painted a 16" long hunk of it flat black to match the stand, and screwed it onto the top plate of the stand, effectively raising the stand's height to 17". It worked fine, and looked decent.

It isn't really required that the top plate of the stand be as wide as the speaker. The stand's 7" wide plate probably would have sufficed, but I just felt better doubling it's width, even though that was still narrower than the VP150.

Since speaker stands come in pairs, if you wanted, you could put the stands side by side, use a 24" piece of 1x8 (or longer, if necessary) and attach it to both top plates, effectively making one stand out of two.

Jack,

Your former Axioms looked pretty good too!

This guy at 16" is a bit wider and less expensive, but it's also lighter and the base plate is almost 4" skinnier.

Good find, Morodin. The top plate of that stand is exactly the same size as the one I manufactured. And, it's an 18" stand. Greg, I can't imagine finding a better buy, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep searching.

Thanks Doug. I thought so too.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll go with one of the two above. That inexpensive wood one seems nice, but the base is narrow. However the price is right.

Jack, what is up with your "former axioms?" Have you moved on??? I still love my VP150 and M22Ti's. I just need the new stand.

Also, I have a front projector with a 106" screen so a stand where the tv is on top and the speaker below won't really work.
