Anybody else waiting for HDMI 1.3 to buy a plasma TV and a mid/high end receiver? I was ready to finally dive in around Jan, now I am thinking of just buying my amp and a low end A/V receiver and of course the Epic 80-500 until all this settles down. Just seeing if anybody else was thinking along those lines as well.

I think you could jump on the plasma now. Since you won't be pulling sound from your TV (I am assuming you will have a DVD and digital cable/sat box), HDMI 1.3 won't offer more than HDMI 1.2 on the video side. I would definately wait for a receiver that has HDMI 1.3, though. I might even wait for a receiver that can process the new sound formats: Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, etc.

Yep, I'm waiting (not very patiently) for 1.3 and the new sound codecs to make their way into the Denon line-up.

I was too impatient to wait on a TV, but I look forward to getting a replacement TV in the future. Higher-quality, less money, naturally.

But yeah, I'm definitely waiting on the receiver. In the meantime, I'm rounding out my speakers and getting the basement ready. Maybe next Spring I'll have some choices for receiver. After all of that, Rives Audio acoustical consultation. Here's hoping it all works out.

Thanks all for the advice, I think I will wait definitely wait on the receiver and possibly the plasma - being the cautious consumer. I never buy a new car the first year they start making a new model, probably a good thing with electronics too. The only reason I will probably wait on the plasma is the PS3 might need the extra speed.
