I currently have a starter system consisting of Paradigm Speakers and a yamaha reciever. I will be purchasing a pair of M80s, a V150 and a pair of QS8s in the very near future.
Reasonably soon after that I would like to upgrade my yamaha reciever to a pre-amp/poweramp seperate system. I have the following in mind: - Outlaw 990 pre-amp - Rotel RMB-1095 5 channel amp I am fairly set on the Outlaw but am not quite sure on the Rotel.
I am using this system for both Home Theatre duty as well as music playback. Just to note I have a Samsung HD950 DVD player and Goldring GR1.2 turntable for my source components.
Any recomendations for this system would be greatly appreciated, keep in mind I am still in my 3rd year of university so my budget is somewhat limited.

I would kill for a budget as limited as yours... Both Outlaw and Rotel make pretty highly regarded components. I think Rotels are prettier, though.

Guitar I believe the Rotel 1095 would make a fine 5 channel amp. I have the 2 channel RB-1080 and have been very happy with the unit for the almost 2 years I've owned it, the 1095 has been on my upgrade list for quite some time. Have you visited the Club Rotel boards? Most folks over there are pretty honest regarding any issues with their Rotel gear ... although some do have a few peculiar ideas 'Warming up the amp for 30 minutes prior to use for best possible sound'? I dunno.

My eventual plan is to pickup another pair of QS8s for a 7.1 system and get a nice sterio, dual mono, or pair of monoblocks to power the M80s. If this is the case do you really think I need all the power of the RMB-1095 or would the 1075 do for now? Just to note: some other 5 channel amps I have looked at are the Parasound A52 and the Butler TDB 5150.
In terms of an amp for the M80s I would really like to get a high powered tube amp. I have played guitar for about 10 years now and any of my amps are tube, so I have a slight preferance towards them.
