I know there's been a few guys here that have gone from Axioms to Rockets, but I'm curious to know if there's anybody who has gone from Rockets to Axioms?

It's kind of a dumb question, but one that I've been curious about nonetheless.

For those who do not know, my wife and I purchased a new house back in May. As we speak, I'm currently in the construction process of remodeling my new theater.

Upstairs I have the M80's, VP150, and two pairs of QS8's that are going to remain there and I'm contemplating whether or not I'm going to put a similar setup in my new theater or possible give the Rockets a try.

If I do give the Rockets a try, I'd be going after the RS850's, RSC200, and two pairs of RSS300's. That said, I love my Axioms so much and the fact that they offer a heck of a lot more finish options from standard finishes to custom finishes, I highly doubt I'll put anything else other then Axioms down in my new theater.

Anyways, I'm just kind of curious if there's been any Rocket owners that have switched to Axioms.

71 views and not one single reply. Price I pay I guess for being absent for so long. Ah well, it's cool. It was kind of a dumb question anyways. Just something I was kind of curious about.

Thanks anyways.

There are a couple people on the board that use Rockets, Tharkun being one, but he hasn't been around for awhile and I beleive Jack (Ajax) is also a Rocket owner.

Homedad, your right....Jack (Ajax) still has an EP500, but the rest of his current system is Rockets. Dennis (Tharkun)has Rockets and Axioms. Richeydog has owned Axioms and now has Rockets, not sure if he still has his Axioms. I know there are some people over on the AVSforums that have gone from Rockets to Axioms, but can't recal their names.

I guess I don't understand the Rocket thing. For the price of the speakers and the shipping charges, I could go downtown and purchase some pretty nice tune boxes. The law of diminishing returns and all that jazz. I have Axioms because they are quality products which I could afford to purchase. I saved some serious dough, since I didn't go the Paradigm, B&W, PSB route.

Littleb,

I understand where you coming from there, but it also depends on what point of view a person is coming from too. For example, I'm look at wood veneers here, and when you compare Axioms prices for their wood veneers in comparison to Rockets, the difference in cost isn't much at all.

I priced out what the system I'd be getting via Axiom custom shop and compared it to the quote I got from AV123, the difference in cost, only $60.

Now, if you look at Axioms standard vinyl veneers and compare the prices to Rockets, then oh heck yes, much bigger savings there.

In my case, I'm just kicking around options here. I'm certainly not trying to dig up dirt or start some kind of which is better war/debate. I've heard of some guys here that switched from Axioms to Rocket, and it just made me wonder if anybody has gone from Rockets to Axioms, instead of the other way around.

Again, kind of a dumb question, but it's just something I was kind of curious about.

I will take a guess and say that the converts from Axioms to Rockets was based on a desire for real wood, now that Axiom offers real wood there may be less converting. The specs and descriptions of Rockets seem similar to those of the M50's. Looking price wise to M50's you would be ahead more $ going with Axiom again.

Again I state this is just a guess and my opinion from what I could read rom the various reviews.

I would love to be able to audition some rockets just to compare but the shipping to Canada is WAY too much, which is how I ended up with Axioms.

Jakewash,

Yes, the shipping with AV123 is kind of an ouch. I think I was quoted $360 for shipping. It's highly unlikely I'll be putting Rockets down in my dedicated theater, if for no other reason, lack of options. They may sound good, but that Rosewood just isn't going to work for my designs decor and I've invested way too much money to start messing around with changing the decor of my design.

I think, for me anyways, what led me to even consider Rockets in the first place, is I've, I'm probably going to reget saying this, but I've always found Axioms center channel to be somewhat their weak link. I know many do not agree with me on that, and that's ok, we're all entiled to our opinions. But I've heard the RSC200 and I own the VP150, and although the VP150 is an excellent center channel, it's not in the same league as the RSC200. Again, just my opinion.

I think what I might end up doing is going with one of Axioms bookshelf or even a third M80 to serve as my center channel. I don't know, I'm just kicking around ideas.

Sut, as you may know if you've read my previous replies on the point, my view is that if there's room for it the center channel speaker should be a vertical speaker identical or at least similar to the mains.

John,

I always take all your advice to heart and is in which what led me to my statement of possibly going with a third M80 (If I can fit it under my screen) or possible one of the bookshelf speakers.

Yes, and as far as the RSC200 goes, that type of W T/M W center speaker can be viewed as a small vertical center flanked by woofers to extend the bass. Although I don't think it's necessary, I've thought on occasion that if Axiom wanted to make such a center available for those who prefer it, two of the 6 1/2" drivers could be used flanking the regular tweeter above the 4" midwoofer from the QS4. Crossovers would probably be around 300 and 3000Hz.
