Anybody have any good suggestions to get varmints out of the attic? I had originally thought it was a squirrel (or two) but now I'm wondering if it is maybe a rat after shining my flashlight yesterday and catching a glimpse of what I *thought* looked more like a rat.
The problem is that in the part of the attic where it (they) is located is scissor trusses and there's no way I can ever get there. I've set up a Have-A-Heart trap as far as I could but to no avail...
Any other suggestions?

Throw a big ass cat up there, that should do the trick.

I was just going to say the same thing We were having a problem with mice, two weeks ago we adopted a Snowshoe Siamese as an indoor cat, the cat camped in the kitchen the first night, in the morning we saw what looked like spots of blood on the kitchen floor, haven't seen a mouse since.

Rick, we have has a 'big ass cat' but I'm thinking she's a little too big and way too domesticated for this little adventure.
A fellow worker was telling me about a trap that uses a couple or three 'C' or 'D' cell batteries that will electrocute the little troublemaker but I haven't been able to find one anywhere.

How about using some of the stuff you guys put down for the rats in the cane fields. That should do it.

I've thought about that also but man if that little critter up and died on me way back in the scissor trusses where I won't be able to remove 'em the smell might not be good for the home team in a few days.

That would certainly kill something, better yet someone, trying to lift that beast that high.

Rat traps? Rat poison? Call your local animal control office? A professional exterminator?
The house I grew up in used to occasionally get racoons in the attic. Talk about loud! My father used to set out these buckets of this amonia gel stuff, and that would frequently keep them out for long periods of time. I have no idea if such a thing would work for squirrels or rats.
I've heard of other people having luck calling their local animal control office.

Jake, I'm wondering if the thing is actually liking the 600 ... first we started hearing it in the front part of our house but now it has moved to the room adjoining the media room, exactly where the no-crawl space scissor trusses are located.
