I must admit, though in the past I have ridiculed it, the half time show of the Superbowl was quite good. Spiff may be the only one to back me on this, but I thought Prince did a great job. I'll admit that I've always liked his guitar work and he put together a nice little showcase of work (some classics and new stuff and not all his). The best part is that Prince actually sang live!
Oh boy, why do I get the feeling I just set myself up for ridicule?

No ridicule here. I am not a Prince fan at all. But, having been a performer most of my life, I gotta give him a LOT of credit for putting on a good show under very tough conditions. It is not easy to perform in a downpour, and he did really well.

Thanks Jack. Taking a quick peek around the internet it seems others enjoyed the show, too. Now I don't feel so weird.
You're right, those were pretty miserable conditions to be performing under.

I really enjoyed it also. I think I might have to go out a pick up some of his music. I knew he was a heck of a musician but never really paid much attention to his music. Can't say much about the Bears though

I enjoyed it also, I wasn't that thrilled by the game and felt the commercials weren't as good as in the past.

I really enjoyed the show that Prince put on, he seemed to take advantage of the bad weather and make it his own. Best SB halftime show I've seen in many years.
Annnnnd I'm very happy that I although I'm in Canada I could still find a station carrying the US advertisements. Yeah, not as good as other years but I did enjoy Kevin Federline's self parody.
Many congrats to the Colts!

My wife said, during his performance, "Who is that guy? He looks like a young Michael Jackson."

It may be because I've been "Pixared," but I really enjoyed the Coke commercials. Loved the one where the guy puts his coin in the coke machine, and we follow the whole manufacturing process.

We have never been a big fan of Prince, so we skipped right over most the halftime show (long live Tivo). I'm here to watch football, not a variety show (listen to skits by Lewis Black to see how I *really* feel about the halftime show...). I do have to give him credit though. I can't imagine the problems faced while performing in the pouring rain. Amazing what contractural obligations will make someone do . My wife and I both felt that overall it was a dissapointing year for the Super Bowl. Congrats to the Colts - they played consistently decent the whole year and deserved to win. Yes, we're Bears fans, but the game pace seemed unusually slow and lacking the energy usually associated with SB games. Part of that could have had something to do with the constant rain, so I'm not blaming the teams entirely (except for Bad-Grossman ). Regarding commercials, the SB is one of the few times I even watch commercials anymore (again, long live Tivo), and I thought that most of them were mostly uninspired, unrealized, and poorly done. Very few were memorable, and most of them seemed dull or just too stupid to be worth the $X,XXX,XXX paid for them. That said, I did enjoy the CareerBuilder.com ones, especially 'Lemmings' and 'Office Battle'. 'Kevin Federline on fries' got a chuckle from my wife.

I saw the half-time show as well....even though I'm not a fan of Prince, per say...it was GREAT to hear live, ROCK electric guitar ON TV!
I suspect, (considering "todays" music) it may be a LONG, LONG, time before ANYONE....rocks THAT hard on TV again.
