The manual states that you should mount the included bracket on a stud, but would it be adequate to mount these on plain drywall using plastic anchors? there's what, 6 or 8 screws? I would think that using anchors with 6 or 8 screws would provide plenty of support.

Get the appropriate size nylon EZ Anchor and you'll be in business...darn near impossible to tear them out of the drywall providing they are installed correctly.
