I've heard good things about the Channel Master 4228, but it is a bit big...
It works well for me 40+ miles from stations. 2.5 x 3 feet doesn't look real big looking up from the from yard to the chimney where the 4228 is attached.

Almost all of the signals are 17.5 miles away or less for me.

Ok, It has a big direct tv dish outside in the yard, a small dish and big T looking antenea on the roof which is OTA. So basically I need a HD tuner for it to connect to my tv. Does OTA only give local channels in HD only, or is it both HD and SD locals? Or is it just like a normal antenea but when a show is in HD it will go from SD to HD? By the way, should I use component or DVI-D cable from the tuner to the tv? It already has what it looks like coax cable from the wall which I'm assuming goes to the tuner box. By the way, if I decide to get direct tv HD receiver, would I still need the HD tuner also or is that part of the receiver? I'll try to take some pics today in case anyone wants to know what my antenea looks like.

Eric, the antenna itself is simply a regular UHF and/or VHF TV antenna; there aren't any HDTV antennas as such. If the station is broadcating a HDTV program, that's what the antenna picks up, of course. If your TV has a DVI input you can use it if you get a cable or satellite receiver with a DVI output, but it wouldn't likely look any better than using the component cables. If you get a HD receiver from direct-tv you wouldn't necessarily need to get HD tuner for the TV unless you also wanted to receive HD programs OTA.
