hello sir,
am shalini from india. i own a pair of 4 way floorstanding speakers of JBL Northridge E 100 series. Power handling is 125 watt continous and 500 watt peak. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm. They have two 10 inch bass drivers alongwith mid and tweeter drivers. Plus bass reflex port at the bottom. These speakers are powered by my Harman Kardon 670 integrated amplifier. the amplifier gives 2x75W, 20Hz-20kHz, into 8 ohms, at 0.09% THD or less. And my cd player is Sony. i have employed Monster brand cables for connections. The sound of my system is good. The application of the system is exclusively hi-fi stereo. My query is as follows-
How shall i upgrade my existing system? I want my stereo sound punching and theater/live like but also clear and crisp. Have i to add any components? Do i need to buy professional speakers to make them sound as i want to. Please guide me. Please treat the query urgent. thanks in advance.

Good day, Shalini, and welcome -
Your HK and Sony components are just fine.
You would likely notice a big change by replacing your JBL speakers with something like Axioms. I find that change to be an improvement, but only your ears can decide for you.

Speakers will effect the sound more than anything else. The better your speakers, the better the sound. Sounds like the M60s or M80s is just what the doctor ordered!

I will bet you will find the M80's more to your liking and remember dropping from the huge 10" drivers in the JBL's to twin 6.5's you will notice a huge difference in lower end sound. It won't be nearly as boomy but tight and clean sounding. Your JBL's more or less are running 2 10" subwoofer in them, just with out the extra power amp from a true sub. Having said that you will also notice a more clean and detailed sound in the all the ranges as I haven't found a JBL speaker yet that sounds as clean as the Axiom's. JBL's are not bad just not as clean/detailed.
I would usually recommend an audition but it will be tough to find Axioms to audition before you buy and the return shipping would be pricey.
Good luck in your search.

Shalini, another welcome. We have another member and satisfied Axiom owner from India(aquashankar)who may be helpful to you in discussing the problems in setting up a good system there. Since he only posts here occasionally you might send him a PM(personal message)through the board to make contact.
As was said, speakers are by far the most significant improvement that can be made in your components.
