I just ordered the 805. Since my old Sony Es actually had lower power into 4 ohm loads I was concerned. It appears the 805 and above are what Onkyo terms "Certified" for 4 ohm loads and should have no problem. Below that model they are not certified. Here are the dynamic headroom specs from the Onkyo website:
# Channels 7 Power (8ohms 20-20kHz 0.08%) /Ch Power (8ohms 20-20kHz 0.05%) /Ch 130W THX Certified(Ultra2) Continuous 6ohms Rated Certified 4ohms performance High Instantaneous Current Capability 60A
Dynamic Power:
300 W (3 ohms, 1 ch) 250 W (4 ohms, 1 ch) 150 W (8 ohms, 1 ch)
These specs finally forced me to place the order.
Hope this helps,
arkiedan
