Just a thought - if the speaker is damaged !!
Some credit cards have a warranty program that doubles the manufacturer's warranty. Naturally, you had to purchase the item using the card and it must be within the extended warranty period to make the claim. Also, you will need the purchase receipt and the credit card invoice showing it was paid. The invoice can be obtained from the CC company if its been trashed.

Thanks for the advice. I did some extensive music listening yesterday and everything sounds fine, so I think it's OK. I will take the speaker off the stand before doing any wiring again though.
