I forgot to mention I've been a long time fan of ZoneAlarm and have been using it for years, even on XP.

Here as well. I like the fact it's application-based "Can Internet Explorer come out and play?" versus Port-based... "Do you allow UDP Port 31337 to contact the server at 24.245.136.41?"... um... maybe?!?

Another vote for AVG for Antivirus. For years I used to have hav Norton's Internet Security and even paid the subscription for the updates because I figured a 'purchased' product had to be better than a free one.

Then I got tired of it's harrasing messages when it would get close to resubscribe time and did some research. Some of the free companies release virus updates and live fixes faster than the big name $ choices.

I now use AVG and ZoneAlarm and I'm very happy. I used to work with cooperate sized firewalls a bit and I'm happy with what ZoneAlarm does for me on my home PC.

I use various spyware products. Seems no one product finds everything. I suggest running 2 or even three of the freeby ones on a rotational basis or use a scheduling program to run them and not forget.

I don't use any anti-virus software. Ohhhhh, we're talking about Windows. Since all my PCs are attached to the company I work for, I use the standard Symantec AV. I disable it whenever I'm doing anything disk-intensive.

get NOD32, no questions asked. Other anti-virus softwares don't even compare when it comes to scanning, detecting, efficiency, resource, etc.

heh heh. I guess here in the Maritimes, we are just so much more cooperative, the mistake was subliminal.

Favorite Virus?
Well, a W32 Bagel variation is currently causing floods to our mail servers again even though it hasn't been around since 2004. I guess somebody re-wrote it. Next month it will be something different though.
