There will be no issues with the QS8s and the Onkyo unit.

David, the 705 should be a fine choice. Among other new features, it has the Audyssey MultEq setup and room equalization system. Unless there's something unique about the 3808 which is "calling(your)name", the added cost probably isn't necessary. The slight difference in power ratings shouldn't be significant.

I have no personal experience, but a lot of folks sure are bitching about the new Onkyo’s at AVS. It might be worth an evening and few beers wading through the BS over there before you buy one.

That won't be any problem. The effects speakers don't get a lot of signal. Even the Onkyo amp sections of their receivers can drive any QS speaker effortlessly.

I went ahead and ordered the 805 last night after spending a good deal of time on the AVS board. Their 'issues' with the amp will not impact my setup, and I decided that the 805 features per dollar is a bargain. Now my whole new HT is in transit (signature line) - I'm like a kid at Christmas!
