Unless he cranked UP the volume on one... and turned DOWN the volume on the other.

The "denon dra 685" would be louder because it has 685 whereas the nad only has 370. Dude, Everyone knows that 685 is louder than 370?

Okay, Mad, if you can tolerate a bit of long-windedness, I'll point out that the M80s are above average in sensitivity and unless your listening room is huge, both the 685 and the 370 would be able to drive them to levels which would permanently damage your hearing. So, don't worry about power, make your decision based on features and price.

Sorry Spiffnme, you're right. Just having a little fun.

BTW, I applaud your courage in taking a stand on the hearing a difference between electronics thread. I forget which post it was and the exact thread.

I can hear a difference between the amps in my Denon receiver and Odyssey Audio Stratos amplifier and/or my old Sansui intergrated. I can also hear some differences in some DACs, especially my Cal Audio tubed DAC and other solid state ones.

I think hearing these differences is a lot like viewing a SIRDS (single image random dot stereograms) You know... the images/pictures that look like random patterns on the surface but when you look at them crossed-eyed you can find the hidden image deep within.(try a "sirds" google search)

I know people that can't see the hidden images to save their lives. Perhaps this is what happens to some of the well meaning science type audio enthuiasts who say there is no sonic differences between amps, preamps, DACs, etc....

Although its highly entertaining, it seems that some folks here are taking it way too seriously. Life's too short to sweat the small stuff!

BTW mad, I'd get the NAD as well. Now, I don't know for sure but I hear their amps are sonicly superior.

I use NAD C370 with M80s. I think mine plays plenty loud. How loud do you want it?

This reply is short and/but useless
